I was very moved by what I heard and saw during the inauguration today. I loved it all. We turned the TV on before breakfast (PST) to catch every bit. E kept with it, asked great questions, was excited to see the people and to hear about the parade.
I cried several times. (I used to hate it when my dad cried at the tv -- like when we landed on the moon and stuff...) I tried to get busy in the kitchen when I felt the tears come because I didn't want to burden E. To her, it was all fun.
I loved what Dianne Feinstein said -- unexpected in its force. I loved Obama's address and how grounded and real it was. He pointed fingers at real issues, placing blame in a respectful way without glossing over the damage done. I loved the poem (it brought tears, but E was screaming at me while Elizabeth Alexander read it). I loved Reverend Lowery's benediction the most.
