midlife math

So...  the very same 3-day weekend I went to the vine cage workshop, I ended up...

• keeping up with the laundry

• finishing a really good book

• shopping ahead so that everything we needed was at hand

• making meals without being overly pissy*

• making beds *wbop

• weeding a long, wide, brave thicket between the garden and raspberry bushes

• putting things away in the garden and garage

• finding things for my mother-in-law

• cleaning up the kitchen thoroughly, many times *wbop

• and spending another ten hours on my current maddening creative project -- so that it is done enough for consumption.

What did I learn?

If I give myself time to do something fun, I don't feel trapped in the laundry or the cooking.  I *want* to weed the garden because I want my new bean cage to feel happy out there.  I enjoy being cooperative at home because I like being me -- a person who just learned how to weave a few branches together.

I need to do this more often.
