I really loved this interview of Dan Wieden (of Wieden and Kennedy) and Tricia Snell (executive director of Caldera) by Janna Mock-Lopez in Portland's Goodness Magazine.
They discuss the mentoring that happens at Caldera, a non-profit that mentors youth in Oregon. Wieden shared a story about how a teacher from Columbia University tried to inspire other teachers to help young people write from their hearts. At the end of this story, Wieden says,
"Being creative sometimes is not making up some wild thing that never existed before, but having a unique individual understanding of your own world, what matters to you and expressing it clearly, whether it’s in paint or words, or whatever."
